The BIG Walk 2021

During the BIG Walk we focus on the positive benefits of outdoor life, and walking in particular.  But in 2021 more than any other year, we want to support and “pay back” the organisations and individuals who have stepped up during the Covid-19 crisis.  The BIG Walk will raise the funds required to help care staff, NHS workers, emergency services teams, veterans and volunteers participate in life changing community projects overseas.  These carefully selected projects provide a focus for people to refresh, reinvigorate and reconnect with their purpose, whilst enjoying the opportunity to change the lives of others.

How you can support us!

Tim will be walking unsupported and will be joined on individual stages by some very special guests along the way. During the walk he will create podcasts and video interviews to look back on 2020 and identify successes and failures in leadership. We will discuss the new world of work, and how businesses have created happier, healthier and more resilient working environments post Coronavirus.

As well as raising money for the BIG Foundation and our partners, we particularly want to highlight a greater awareness of mental health and wellbeing. We will help to educate others and will hear the stories of those who have personally experienced mental illness, and the dedicated professionals who give care to those affected.

Meet Tim

Tim Richardson, our Founder, will lead the fundraising effort and walk over 20 kilometres each day, for 20 days in May. In the South of England – the 178km route starts in Wiltshire on The White Horse Way, before joining the Ridgeway Path through Hertsfordshire and Oxfordshire. Moving up to Scotland, Tim will restart the walk in Glasgow and walk 290km along the West Highland Way to Fort William and then climb Ben Nevis, before continuing along the Great Glen to Inverness. He will take in some of the finest scenery in both England and Scotland, before completing the walk on the Black Isle on 1st June.
