Itinyi, Kenya

We are hugely grateful to the clients who have supported our 2018-2020 project to build a nursery classroom at Itinyi Primary School. It was no mean feat. Twenty corporate volunteers in two groups cheerfully tackled the tasks of moving 10 tons of building materials, mixing cement and constructing walls with their hands, without the luxury of electric tools.

As well as providing a dedicated, indoor space for youngsters to start their education, we have learnt since its completion that the presence of the nursery has given the local community a certain degree of kudos and the school has also been granted a new government-funded teacher.

Well done and thank you to everyone who has been involved in this project.

Volunteer Testimonial

“The trip has had a great impact on me personally – my time spent in Kenya was very humbling. I particularly enjoyed the time spent on the project at the school, meeting Mama Mercy and her ladies group and the safari. My standout moment was probably watching the sun go down with a beer when two elephants appeared at the water hole below us.“
